The Play at SUT: Enjoyable and Meaningful
On Saturday May 3rd 2025, I attended a play performed by Suranaree University of Technology’s acting club members. The title was “Fruitopia: the Musical.” It was a very enjoyable and meaningful one. Everybody did a great job, reflecting hard work and dedication in practice and rehearsal. The story was thought-provoking, and the way they unraveled the story line was pleasantly engaging. In addition, the stage was suitably arranged. Although it was performed in a lecture hall, the atmosphere looked and sounded like a permanent theater. The visual exhibition, costumes, and audio output were also captivating.
Even though the production was just a college level, it was impressive. I was really mesmerized by the cast and crew. Each role was acted out by the actors and actresses with fitting appearance. I was surprised by their passion. They were talented and artistic though most of them are majoring in science and technology. The dialogues, executions, and movements were enchanting. With the prerecorded delightful music in backing tracks, they flawlessly staged live without lip-syncing.
The story was about a young woman who got lost in the land of fruits. All the fruits lived in a place where the king was durian and the queen was mangosteen. Each fruit seemed to have his/her own dramatic problems. For example, a tomato is perceived as vegetable, but it insisted that it was a fruit, not a vegetable. This resembles the life of LGBTQ whose existence may be mistakenly assumed. The plot also dealt with the dark nature of human, such as betrayal, jealousy, and greed depicted by fruit characters. While the story was a little lengthy, the actors could add some amusing and humorous feats.
Overall, this event can be considered a masterpiece. For an institution which prides itself as a science and technology university, SUT’s artistic presentation such as this play emerged as an indication of students’ and staff’ versatile talent and competence. The show was received by a large group of audience especially the students. This added valuable extracurricular experiences for them while studying in college. It is a remarkable and long-lasting memory that will impact their lives after graduation.

ละครเวที มทส.: สนุกและเปี่ยมด้วยความหมาย
เมื่อวันเสาร์ที่ 3 พฤษภาคม พ.ศ. 2568 ผมได้มีโอกาสเข้าร่วมชมละครเวทีเรื่อง Fruitopia: The Musical ที่จัดแสดงโดยสมาชิกชมรมการแสดงของมหาวิทยาลัยเทคโนโลยีสุรนารี (SUT) การแสดงในครั้งนี้นับเป็นกิจกรรมที่ทั้งสนุกสนานและเปี่ยมด้วยสาระ ทุกองค์ประกอบสะท้อนถึงความทุ่มเทและการฝึกซ้อมอย่างต่อเนื่องของนักแสดงและทีมงานเบื้องหลัง
บทละครมีเนื้อหาชวนติดตาม ถ่ายทอดผ่านการดำเนินเรื่องที่เป็นลำดับและสร้างอารมณ์ร่วมได้ดี การจัดแสง เสียง และฉาก แม้จะใช้พื้นที่ของห้องบรรยาย ก็สามารถดัดแปลงให้มีบรรยากาศไม่ต่างจากโรงละครจริง ความประณีตในการออกแบบเครื่องแต่งกาย การจัดแสดงภาพบนเวที รวมถึงระบบเสียง ล้วนเพิ่มความสมบูรณ์แบบให้แก่การแสดงอย่างน่าประทับใจ
แม้จะเป็นการผลิตในระดับนักศึกษา แต่คุณภาพของผลงานกลับแสดงให้เห็นถึงศักยภาพและความสามารถเชิงศิลปะอย่างชัดเจน นักแสดงทุกคนมีบุคลิกเหมาะสมกับบทบาท และแสดงออกด้วยความมั่นใจ การเคลื่อนไหวและบทสนทนามีความลื่นไหลและเป็นธรรมชาติ อีกทั้งยังใช้ดนตรีประกอบที่ถูกบันทึกไว้ล่วงหน้าได้อย่างกลมกลืนกับการแสดงสด โดยไม่จำเป็นต้องลิปซิงค์
เนื้อหาของละครกล่าวถึงหญิงสาวคนหนึ่งที่พลัดหลงเข้าไปในดินแดนของผลไม้ ซึ่งแต่ละตัวละครผลไม้ต่างก็มีบุคลิกและปัญหาเฉพาะตน เช่น มะเขือเทศที่ยืนยันความเป็น "ผลไม้" ของตนแม้จะถูกมองว่าเป็นผัก ซึ่งสะท้อนความเข้าใจผิดและความซับซ้อนทางอัตลักษณ์ของกลุ่มบุคคล เช่น LGBTQ+ พล็อตเรื่องยังแฝงประเด็นเกี่ยวกับธรรมชาติด้านลบของมนุษย์ เช่น ความอิจฉา การหักหลัง และความโลภ โดยมีการใส่ความขบขันเข้าไปเพื่อสร้างสมดุลและบรรเทาความตึงเครียด
การแสดงครั้งนี้ไม่เพียงแต่เป็นความบันเทิง หากยังเป็นเวทีที่แสดงถึงศักยภาพทางศิลปะของนักศึกษาในสถาบันที่มีชื่อเสียงด้านวิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยี ความสามารถในการผลิตผลงานที่มีคุณภาพเช่นนี้ ถือเป็นการเติมเต็มมิติด้านกิจกรรมนักศึกษาอย่างมีคุณค่า และสร้างความทรงจำอันยั่งยืนที่จะหล่อหลอมทักษะชีวิตของพวกเขาหลังจบการศึกษา
