SUT Ranks Joint 6th in Thailand, Top 3 in Science and Technology

Suranaree University of Technology (SUT) stands firm at joint 6th place among Thailand's leading universities and secures the 3rd spot among science and technology institutions in the country. In the latest World University Rankings 2024 by Times Higher Education (THE), SUT has achieved a global ranking between 1201 and 1500, as announced on September 27, 2023, in the UK.

 

 

 

These rankings are determined based on a comprehensive set of criteria, consisting of 5 main indicators and 13 sub-indicators. These indicators include Teaching (29.50%), Research (Research Environment) (29.00%), Research Quality (30.00%), Internationality (7.50%), and Industrial Sector (4.00%). When examining SUT's performance among Thai universities in each indicator, it ranks 5th in research, 6th in industry, 7th in teaching, and 8th in internationalization. SUT's standout performance is in the industrial sector, where it secures the 725th spot globally.

 

 

The 2024 THE World University Rankings encompass 2,673 universities from 120 countries worldwide. The top-ranked university globally is the University of Oxford, England. Among the 27 Thai universities participating in the ranking, 19 secured positions, with the top 5 in Thailand being Chulalongkorn University, Mahidol University, King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi, Chiang Mai University, and Mae Fah Luang University.

 

 

 

 

Associate Professor Dr. Anan Thongraar, the Rector of Suranaree University of Technology, expressed pride in these results. He emphasized SUT's commitment to all facets of development, including academics, research, entrepreneurship, with the overarching mission to cultivate talent, generate knowledge, drive innovation, and promote the utilization of science and technology towards becoming an "Innovation and Sustainable University" in both the Northeastern region and Thailand.
