SUT Soars into the Global Top 300 in THE Impact Rankings 2026,
Highlighting Its Vision as a "Residential University" and a Model of Sustainability and Livability

 

    Suranaree University of Technology (SUT) reinforces its image as an international-level livable university city (Residential University). Recently, following the announcement of the THE University Impact Rankings 2026, SUT has advanced into the global 201-300 tier and secured the joint 11th position in Thailand. This achievement reflects the university's tangible success in driving the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

     Associate Professor Dr. Sittichai Seangatith, Acting Rector of SUT, revealed that according to the results announced on June 24, 2026, by Times Higher Education (THE), a leading global ranking institution from the UK, SUT has demonstrated a clear leap in performance. The university achieved a total score of 80.6, an impressive increase of 6.6 points from the previous year's score of 74, standing out among 1,603 participating universities worldwide.

    The distinction that makes SUT a livable and sustainable university across various dimensions stems from its exceptionally high evaluation scores in three primary goals, all of which promote a high quality of life and an excellent campus environment. These include:

• Resource and Environmental Management (SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production): SUT performed outstandingly, ranking 3rd in Thailand and in the 101-200 tier globally with a score of 79.0. This demonstrates the university's commitment to the efficient use of resources, effective waste management, and the promotion of environmentally friendly practices.
• Health and Utility Infrastructure (SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation): SUT secured the 6th position in Thailand and the global 101-200 tier with a score of 74.7. This reflects the efficient management of water resources and utility systems within the university, ensuring excellent sanitation standards for everyone on campus.
• Green Spaces and Ecosystems (SDG 15: Life on Land): SUT placed 8th in Thailand and in the global 101-200 tier with a score of 78.4. This underscores the university's vital role in conserving, restoring, and managing green spaces, as well as preserving biodiversity and natural resources sustainably, thereby creating a shaded and highly livable environment.

    Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sittichai Seangatith concluded that the continuous rise in the rankings this year is a testament to the university's success in integrating sustainable development concepts into all its core missions: teaching and learning, research, academic services, and corporate management. This not only earns SUT continuous international recognition but also aims to elevate it to a true "Residential University," providing a sustainable space for learning and living for students and staff alike.
