SUT Ranked Among Thailand’s Leading Universities by Subject in THE World University Rankings 2026
 
 
   Suranaree University of Technology (SUT) has been ranked among Thailand’s leading universities by subject in the THE World University Rankings 2026 by Subject, officially announced by Times Higher Education (THE), United Kingdom, on 21 January 2026.
SUT was ranked in four subject areas, namely Physical Sciences, Engineering, Life Sciences, and Social Sciences, reflecting the University’s strong and continuously improving performance in teaching, research, and international collaboration. Notably, Physical Sciences achieved the highest score in International Outlook nationwide, while Social Sciences was ranked for the first time, demonstrating outstanding performance in Industry Income, ranked 4th in Thailand. These achievements reaffirm SUT’s commitment to becoming a leading international research university and a key driver of national development through science, technology, and innovation.
 
 
 
Physical Sciences
SUT was ranked joint 2nd among technological universities and joint 3rd in Thailand out of 19 ranked Thai institutions, placed in the 801–1,000 band globally among 1,497 universities worldwide. Overall scores increased from the previous year, with improvements across all five performance indicators. In particular, SUT achieved the highest score nationwide in International Outlook and the 2nd highest score in Teaching, highlighting its strong academic programs, teaching quality, and international partnerships.
 
 
 
Engineering
SUT ranked 3rd among technological universities and joint 9th in Thailand out of 18 Thai institutions, placed in the 1,001–1,250 global band among 1,555 universities worldwide. Overall performance showed an upward trend, with notable improvements in Research, Research Quality, and Teaching, reflecting the University’s continued advancement in engineering research and industry-relevant innovation.
 
 
 
Life Sciences
SUT ranked 2nd among technological universities and 9th in Thailand out of 18 Thai institutions, placed in the 801–1,000 global band among 1,211 universities worldwide. Overall scores increased from the previous year, with improvements in Research, Research Quality, Teaching, and International Outlook.
 
 
 
Social Sciences
In 2026, SUT was ranked in Social Sciences for the first time, achieving 2nd place among technological universities and 7th in Thailand out of 14 ranked Thai institutions, placed in the 801–1,000 global band among 1,202 universities worldwide. The Industry Income indicator ranked 4th nationwide, highlighting SUT’s effective integration of social sciences with regional development, policy formulation, and industry engagement.
 
 
 
The THE World University Rankings by Subject assess universities based on five core performance areas—Teaching, Research Environment, Research Quality, Industry Income, and International Outlook—across 18 performance indicators, all internationally recognized benchmarks.
 
 
 
SUT’s 2026 results demonstrate clear improvements across multiple subject areas and performance indicators, reflecting the University’s systematic development strategy in producing high-quality graduates, advancing impactful research, and expanding international and industry collaborations.
