SUT ranks among the TOP 5 leading universities in Thailand according to THE's Asia University Rankings.
Suranaree University of Technology (SUT) secured the 5th position among the leading universities in Thailand and ranked 2nd in the country in the technology university group. Additionally, it landed in the 401-500 range among the top universities in Asia according to the 2024 Asia University Rankings by Times Higher Education (THE), a renowned university-ranking institution from the United Kingdom. This ranking, released on April 30, 2024, featured 1,127 leading universities from 31 Asian countries. The top-ranked university in Asia for that year was Tsinghua University in China.

In Thailand, there are a total of 27 ranked universities, with the top 5 being Chulalongkorn University, Mahidol University, King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi, Chiang Mai University, and Suranaree University of Technology, all sharing the 5th position. They are joined by Khon Kaen University, King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, King Mongkut's University of Technology North Bangkok, Mae Fah Luang University, Prince of Songkla University, and Thammasat University. Suranaree University of Technology (SUT) has moved up from the joint 6th position in the previous year's rankings. Its overall score is 31.1, derived from five indicators: teaching (26.1), research environment (25.2), research quality (31.3), international outlook (37.9), and industry income (54.9).
The criteria used to rank the top universities in Asia in 2024 consist of 5 leading indicators and 17 sub-indicators, along with their respective weights for calculation, as illustrated in Figure 1.

Associate Professor Dr. Anan Thongra-ar, the President of SUT, revealed, "The results of this ranking are not only a cause for celebration but also a source of immense pride. They reflect the potential of our university's faculty and demonstrate that SUT is indeed one of the 'quality universities' in Thailand and Asia."
