THE World University Subject Rankings


Suranaree University of Technology (SUT) continues to improve in the latest World University Subject Rankings 2024, conducted by Times Higher Education (THE). The ranking uses five pillars Teaching, Research Environment, Research Quality, Industry and International Outlook across 11 broad subject areas.

Globally, SUT is ranked 801-1000 in the Physical Sciences, 601-800 in the Life Sciences and 801-1000 in Engineering. Despite increasing competition in the rankings with more universities now included, SUT’s rank in Physical Science and Engineering held firm, while Life Sciences excelled climbing from 801-1000 to 601-800 in the rankings.


Within Thailand, SUT ranks equal 3rd in Physical Sciences among the 18 universities ranked, and equal 5th in Life Sciences and Engineering with 15 universities ranked in these two subject areas. In all three subject areas the university saw significant improvements in the scores in four critical areas: teaching, research environment, research quality, and international outlook. Indeed, in the physical and life sciences SUT ranks in the Top 5 in Thailand in 3 of the 5 pillars, while engineering continues to perform well in the industry pillar. These improvements reflect SUT’s continuing strive for excellence and its vision to be an innovative and sustainable university.


Assoc. Prof. Dr. Anan Tongraar, the Rector of SUT, expressed great enthusiasm and pride in these outstanding achievements. He views them as a testament to SUT's growing potential and continuous development across various academic fields. He anticipates further enhancements in the years ahead and is excited about the university's prospects.
