SUT Shines in the THE Impact Rankings

The Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings measure the performance of universities against the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The latest version of the rankings released on 18th June 2025 reveals that Suranaree University of Technology (SUT) remains in the 401-600 band overall, despite increased competition as the rankings have grown from 1963 last year to 2318 universities this year. SUT’s performance places the University joint 11th in Thailand, with no change from last year.

In the individual SDGs, SUT is now ranked in the Top 100 in the world in four of the 17 SDGs: SDG1 No poverty, SDG2 No Hunger, SDG6 Clean Water & Sanitation and SDG13 Climate Action.

Moreover, SUT is now ranked in the Top25 percentile in 10 of the 17 SDGs, a marked improvement compared with last year where the University was only in the top percentile in two SDGs. A selection of the most improved SDGs includes SDG3, SDG4, SDG11 and SDG12 where the University climbed 200 to 600 places.

Associate Professor Dr Anan Tongraar, Rector of SUT said “The recent ranking result reflects the university’s strong commitment to ensuring adequate water and sanitation, managing resources sustainably, ending hunger, achieving food security, improving nutrition, and promoting sustainable agriculture. Furthermore, it demonstrates SUT’s dedication to fostering sustainable consumption and production patterns. These efforts  demonstrate the university’s responsiveness to current global challenges and its alignment with institutional policies aimed at becoming a university of innovation and sustainability”.

SUT’s success in the latest THE Impact Rankings reflects the University’s commitment to a sustainable future and impactful projects that improve the quality of the lives of our local communities.
